Who Are We?
We are educators, community leaders, high school students and parents of exceptionally diverse backgrounds. We partner with numerous other local and international organizations committed to our common goal for global social justice and environmental protection.
Our Mission
Global Visionaries seeks to empower young people to become global leaders in creating a just and sustainable future.
Established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2002, Global Visionaries provides a leadership program for youth of diverse socio-economic, ethnic, racial and geographic backgrounds to become active leaders and global citizens who promote social justice. Through socially conscious and environmentally focused education and community service both in Seattle and abroad, and recognizing that youth need to work together to be the change for the future, GV encourages youth to seek alternative and innovative approaches to the problems facing their generation.
Our intention at GV is to empower youth to become agents for global change. As an organization, we now seek to become a model of that global change we wish to inspire: through our own strategic development and integration of involved youth, informed leadership, evidence-based and mission-driven actions, and an overarching culture of service.
Our Programs
Global Visionaries offers high school students a year-long Leadership Program that includes a leadership training, a cultural immersion trip to Guatemala, and local and international service projects focused on social and environmental justice.
Seattle Leadership Program & Guatemala Trip
The Leadership Training Program educates and trains students in cross-cultural understanding, fundraising, and social action. This is a year-long program and includes leadership training, a cultural immersion trip to Guatemala, and local and international service projects focused on social and environmental justice.
Intensive Leadership Program
A condensed version of the year-long program, the Intensive Leadership Program is designed for students to explore issues of social justice, grow in their leadership, participate in international service opportunities, and expand their Spanish language learning.
Long Term Volunteer Program for Gap Year Students
The Long Term Volunteer program is a two-year commitment to leadership, development, and service within the Seattle Community as well as in Guatemala. Students who choose to participate in this role begin the LTV process at the start of their senior year.
Global Leadership Class Curriculum
Global Leadership is an innovative approach to high school social studies that focuses on social and environmental justice through service learning and hand-son leadership skill building.
