Global Visionaries (GV) is like a family. Your youth will experience an environment that fosters a sense of belonging among a fun and diverse crowd of people. And so will you!
As a parent of a GV youth, we encourage you to be part of the family. There are some required meetings for parents, but also some exciting, but optional ways to be involved. Some highlights include:
Four Required Meetings
- Spring/Summer (Friday, November 4)
- Intensive (Wednesday, November 9)
- Spring/Summer (Saturday, November 19)
- Intensive – NONE
Pre-departure Meeting (~2 weeks prior)
Post-immersion Storytelling Event (date TBD)
Three Optional Parent Nights
These meetings are held during student meetings, for efficiency in time and travel. During these meetings GV will present on topics of interest to all GV parents. Presenters are regional leaders in their fields. Topics include:
- The award-winning pedagogy behind Global Visionaries
- Dreikurs approach to raising children
To build truly empathetic leaders, Global Visionaries requires a deliberately diverse group of youth, spanning all socio-economic backgrounds. This necessitates scholarships for lower income households. We do not overcharge more affluent families for this need. Instead, we keep costs as low as possible, and also run a series of fundraising events to ensure all qualified applicants can afford to participate.
Parents are encouraged to volunteer for many roles, including procuring food for our retreats, donating wine or being a “table captain” to recruit additional attendees to our events, or assisting in the many tasks needed to run an efficient and effective program.
